Protesters Clash With Police at Site of Future Airport

Demonstrators clashed with police on Saturday as security forces tried to clear out a protest camp, set up at the future site of an airport in western France. The confrontation in Notre-Dame-des-Landes, not far from the French city of Nantes, saw police remove the temporary dwellings using heavy machinery and attempt push back protesters by firing tear gas. French media reported that three people had been injured, including one police officer.
