Monday, September 15, 2008

MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown High School Hall of Fame 2008 class of inductees includes a pair of state tennis champions and all-state athletes in football, baseball and track.

Sarah Lanham, Jim Lindsey and Mike Roe are three of the seven new members this year.

Lanham, a 1999 graduate, was a four-year letter winner in track and was a three-time state qualifier in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. She was named all-state in 1998 and 1999. Lanham was a district and Greater Miami Conference champion as a senior in both hurdle events, and also won the regional title in the 300 hurdles in 1999.

Lanham also played four years of soccer and was a second-team selection in 1997.

Lindsey, a 1957 graduate, was one of the smallest guards to ever player for Middletown. As a senior, he was an All-Greater Ohio League second team All-State selection.

Roe, a 1977 graduate, was a three-year started for the Middies in baseball. He was named to the Greater Miami Conference first team all three years (1975-77) and was named Butler County Player of the year in 1977. As a senior, he led the Middies with a .452 batting average, and he still holds nine of 13 MHS batting records today. Following his senior year, he was named Second team All-America.

The four other new members are Dan Colson, Roy Davidson, Paul Gates and Don Hackney. All seven will be introduced during Middletown's home game Friday night, Sept. 19, with the official induction ceremony to be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Manchester Inn.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased prior to the event by contacting either Bobby Hayden at (513) 423-8373 or Johnny Mail at (513) 422-9088. No tickets will be sold at the door.
