The search for a new Monroe High School varsity football head coach has been narrowed down to a pool of five finalists.

Kettering Fairmont assistant coach Robert Dement, Mason offensive coordinator Darren Little, Colerain offensive coordinator Ken Meibers, Grove City defensive coordinator Steve White and Springboro defensive coordinator Nick Black were selected from a field of 17 applicants to interview for the position vacated by Jason Krause when he accepted the head coaching job at Middletown on Apr. 24. Dement and Little were scheduled to interview on Monday, May 12 and Meibers, White and Black will be interviewed on Tuesday, May 13.

Extras

"We have a lot of good applicants. These five seemed to really jump off the page and make a good impression," Monroe athletic director John Singleton said. "Hopefully we'll be able to pick a great new coach for Monroe out of this group."

After all five have interviewed, the school plans to bring the top two to three candidates back for a final round of interviews later this week or early next week and hopes to offer the job to someone by Wednesday, May 21. Whomever is selected for the job will then have to be approved by the Monroe school board at it's May 27 meeting.
