Fenwick wins GCL North again

BASEBALL
FENWICK 6, ALTER 5: Fenwick won the Greater Catholic League North Division for the second straight season with its victory over Alter on Friday, May 9. Craig Goubeaux went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs to lead the Falcons (11-11, 6-8 GCL North). Also contributing for Fenwick were Derek Graham (2-for-2, RBI), Addison Wellens (2-for-4, double) and Tyler Zaidel (2-for-5, RBI). Tyler Helfferich earned the win to improve to 2-2 for Fenwick, which will open Division III sectional tournament play Wednesday against Waynesville.

MONROE 7, CARLISLE 3: Leading by only one run, Monroe scored three more times in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Carlisle on Friday, May 9, in a Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division battle. Tamara Davis was 2-for-5 with a triple, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored to lead the Hornets, who improved to 13-8 overall and 7-5 in the SWBL Buckeye. Also contributing for Monroe was Lauren Turner (2-for-3, triple, two runs, stolen base), Desirae Barker (2-for-3, two RBIs, run), Laura Cain (2-for-2, two doubles, two RBIs) and Ashly Minotto (double, run). Elizabeth McKinney went 2-for-4 to lead the Indians.
LEBANON 16, SPRINGBORO 1: Lebanon put up 10 runs in the third inning en route to run-ruling Springboro on Friday, May 9, in a Greater Western Ohio Conference South Division contest. Chelsea Kaunert went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI to lead the Warriors (22-1, 6-0 GWOC South). Allie Manwaring (triple, two RBIs), Alex Machen (double, two RBIs), Jessica Scott (2-for-2, two RBIs) and Karrisa Tepe (2-for-3, RBI) also contributed in the win. Springboro fell to 7-19, 1-6 GWOC South.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
ALTER 3, FENWICK 0: Alter defeated Fenwick 26-24, 25-12, 25-21 on Friday, May 9, in a Greater Catholic League North Division contest. Both teams will participate in the tournament draw today.
TRACK & FIELD
MADISON GIRLS WIN NORTHRIDGE MEET: Madison scored 114 points to win the five-team Northridge meet Tuesday, May 6. The Mohawks were led by Allison Bundy and Stephanie Robinson. Bundy won the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 13.5 and 27.1 seconds, respectively. Robinson won the 1,600 (6:10) and the 3,200 (13:39). The 400 relay team of Sara Stone, Mirriah Hill, Cortney Cobb and Bundy took first place in 53.3 seconds, as did the 1,600 relay team of Brooke Tipton, Lilly Malcolm, Brittney Sorrell and Bundy in 4:25.6.
BOYS LACROSSE
MASON 12, FENWICK 4: Jake Bustle had two goals, and Keeton Daley and Alex Keegan each had one for Fenwick, which lost to Mason on Friday, May 9. Jimmy Grau had 14 saves in goal for the Falcons.
