The VIPs of our city and Butler County are at it again. I am not surprised. They were determined to tear down our old hospital and they did. Now they are saying we need a veterans hospital, which would be great, but why couldn’t we have used at least part of the old hospital? No, they want another new building out by Atrium (Medical Center). They could have saved a lot of money, but they don’t work that way. We all know that.

Superintendent (Elizabeth) Lolli: Now that you’ve got your levy and everything is looking good in Monroe, it would nice if you hired quality people, instead of bringing in your old cronies from Middletown.

People in charge of looking for unicorns, leprechauns and the Loch Ness Monster have all been reassigned. Their new job is to find the economic recovery (Barack) Obama keeps bragging about. They will find nothing.

Thank you to the two gentlemen who helped me on Manchester Road when my car died at the railroad tracks (while) waiting for a train to pass. Your generosity of time and patience to a stranded lady was appreciated more than you could ever know. I am so thankful for your generous hearts. There are good people in this city. Bless you.

I read the article about the Middletown administration making a big deal about the Moeller players not shaking hands. Frankly, you could tell that there was going to be trouble after that game because of the fake field goal and the students walking on their side. Luckily, the Moeller coaches recognized that the best thing was to stay away from each other and tell their players to go to the opposite end of the field. Luckily, somebody with a cooler head took that type of action to prevent a fight — because, most assuredly, that’s what would have happened. I would think the administration would recognize that was smart. ...

I would like to give a big shout and thank you to Miami University Middletown. The restored statue of George Verity is beautiful and inspiring. It’s a testament to one of the greatest leaders that this city has ever known, and probably ever will know. So thank you again, MUM. You did a wonderful job. Welcome home, Mr. Verity.

Abortion is legal. I don’t understand why no federal money can be used to subsidize this legal procedure, just because 40 percent of the public believe it is murder. I believe bombing innocent men, women and children — as we continue to do in Iraq and Afghanistan — is murder, but I cannot exempt my taxes for that. Why is one murder and another is not?
