I would like to know, as a taxpayer, how much money Dr. (Steve) Price and the board of education have spent on this equity program for the last three years? Can anyone find out how much he has spent on Glenn Singleton and the Pacific Educational Group, for all the training, speakers and so on?
Editor’s note — Middletown City Schools Superintendent Steve Price responds: “In the last three years, a total of $2,768,416 has been spent on professional development for all district employees. Much of this money came from federal grant dollars designated for professional development. In the last three years, $426,125 (15 percent) was spent on professional development related to equity work. In the last three years, Pacific Education Group has been paid $248,181 (9 percent). To date, total expenditures of $1,245,155 have been made on all staff development for the 2008-09 school year. Of that total, the amount spent on all equity work is $135,000, of which 47 percent ($63,450) is funded from federal grant money designated for professional development, not locally generated property tax dollars. Of the total for all equity work, $53,358 (all from federal grant money, not locally generated property tax dollars) has been spent on services from Pacific Educational Group. Consultation services with PEG represent approximately 4 percent of total expenditures for staff development for the 2008-09 school year.”
When is The Journal going to delete “Uncle Al” Lewis’ obituary from its daily Internet listings? It’s been in there for several months.
