‘Went above and beyond the call of duty’
I understand many times our government officials may get the blame for things outside of their control. In this case, I wish to express my appreciation for several leaders in the City of Middletown who I feel went above and beyond the call of duty.
I have a client who participated in the City of Middletown’s First-Time Home Buyer Program. After several setbacks with the bank and other unforeseeable issues, we needed some special consideration.
Kyle Fuchs and Skip Batten from the city’s Community Development Division were instrumental in helping with this process.
As we neared the completion of the program, Doug Adkins, community revitalization director, and Judy Gilleland, city manager, got us the assistance needed to finish the project.
As a result, the City of Middletown gained a new resident and one of the vacant homes in the city is now occupied with a great family.
My sincerest thanks goes out to these leaders of the city who helped us accomplish these goals.

‘I am a Jesus freak, and I’m proud of it’
I cannot understand for the life of me why more people are not speaking out about all the changes our government is making.
No, that is not true. They are probably just like I have been until now. Scared of what others will say, so just keeping quiet — fear.
Can’t they see what is happening? Our God-given rights are being taken from us. Plus, there is so much evil and hate. The newspaper is full of it. I can only read a little of the paper before I get depressed.
Just a very short time ago, I lived in the wealthiest country in the world. No more.
I lived in a country where, if you worked hard, spent your money right, saved some and helped those in need, then your limits were as high as you were willing to reach. No more.
When you retired you could rest and enjoy the remaining years. No more.
We were proud, not afraid to say that we believed in God, Jesus and our country.
So say whatever you want to about me, I’ll never deny my God.
Now I’ll say it for some of you — I am a Jesus freak, and I’m proud of it.
Wake up. Speak out, before we lose what little freedom we have left.
You cannot continue blaming everything on President George W. Bush. He is not the one in control.
