In regard to the cover story on Nov. 2, “Genre fans, crimes linked”: ... I myself listen to death metal and heavy metal like that, which does have very violent and evil content; but I myself am not. That’s like saying every single person who listens to country music drives a tractor or rides a bull or has a big jacked-up truck. They should not generalize these people by the music they listen to. People need to stop stereotyping people in this way.

Regarding the recent Sound Off call: I agree with her about the festivals that are available and also that Middfest has been nice, but I believe it has run its course. People are just not interested in the other countries anymore, and we ought to bring more types of festivals to our town, like Waynesville has the sauerkraut festival and other towns have different ones through the seasons. I think Smith Park is the greatest park that ever was. It’s big enough for everybody for parking and for all festivities to be taking place over there. I don’t know why they don’t use that more often. ...

I would like to see our politicians ... lobby to keep our time at daylight-saving time. It is no fun when it’s dark at night and dark in the morning. It is very depressing. I am all for keeping daylight-saving time 12 months out of the year.
