I think it’s disgusting that the Middletown Journal put the deer pictures on the front page of the newspaper. It’s just awful. I am about ready to cancel my subscription.
Nice going, Middletown Journal — for putting the pictures of the deer hunters and the deer on the front page of the Dec. 1 paper. ... I am an animal lover and I find this very offensive. I may not purchase your paper in the future.
On Dec. 1, I observed a school bus driver — of all people — smoking on a school bus. Didn’t see any children on there but the cigarette smoke saturates into the seats and interior of the bus. They ought to discharge this person immediately. The bus was seen coming out of Monroe. ...
Regarding the person on Franklin Street who’s been having problems with mail delivery: I am totally sympathetic to your problem. Where I live, in a big apartment complex, we’ve probably seen a dozen different men and women delivering our mail. We never know what time it’s going to be delivered and they just find it easier to lay everybody’s mail on a lobby table. Unfortunately, that’s created a problem with mail coming up missing. ... I have a mailbox and I want my mail put in there, not on some lobby table so anybody can grab it and get my personal information. It makes it easier for a thief to use my information for fraud. ...
In response to the caller on Franklin Street having problems with the postman: For the last couple of months where I live on Roosevelt Boulevard, we’ve had all kinds of problems with our postman, putting different mail in different boxes. Time-sensitive mail, bank statements and other things have gone into (wrong) boxes and have just been kindly delivered by the person who received the wrong mail. I have also complained to the post office and they seem to be brushing this off. The management of the apartment complex is also having problems. Is there anything that can be done?
... I went to the Middletown post office Dec. 1 to buy a book of stamps. I could hardly get in the parking lot. People were backed out on the street. I left there as quickly as possible and went to CVS and got me a book of stamps. Why in the world wouldn’t they consider moving that post office somewhere with plenty of parking and plenty of room?
I have been a customer of Rogers Jewelers for almost 50 years. My son was here for Thanksgiving and had a ring that needed to be reshaped. We went to Rogers Nov. 28 and I was so pleased to see Rod Corwin is back. He not only expertly reshaped my son’s ring, he gave us the VIP treatment. He is a wonderful salesperson and inspires you to want to make a purchase. What an asset for Towne Mall.
About “Paint Man” Robert Thomas Jr., who died Dec. 1: He was a hell of a man. He would give you the shirt off his back. If you didn’t have any money, he would give you money. He was a good friend. All the kids whom he knew are going to miss him. All the grown-ups he knew are going to miss him. ...
I was at the corner of Main and Reinartz Boulevard on Dec. 2 at 10:40 a.m. ... A big semi-truck went through the red light going down Reinartz Boulevard toward West Middletown. He kept blowing his horn. Thank God there was nobody in the intersection because somebody could have been killed. Somebody needs to either watch that intersection — to make sure these trucks stop — or they need a red-light camera there.
