Why would the NAACP want an elected school board member reprimanded for trying to get feedback on discipline? Is this the job or concern of the NAACP? I don’t think so.

If Dora Bronston is a concerned parent, grandparent or a concerned citizen, that is not a problem. But, again, what does the NAACP have to do with anything the school board does?

I believe Mr. (John) Sauter is trying to help solve a problem in the Middletown school system. That is why we elected him, not the NAACP. I think Mr. Sauter is on the right track by asking the teachers their opinions about discipline, since they are not allowed to do anything else.

If we do not get discipline back in the schools, how are we going to keep good teachers? We won’t. They will go to other schools, where they can teach and prepare our children for this world, not crowd control — and that is what a lot of our teachers are doing in Middletown. Breaking up fights, but not allowed to do anything to the students involved. If you think these children don’t need discipline, just look at our jails and prisons.

Keep it up, Mr. Sauter. I’m behind you 100 percent. I will vote for you again and again. The other school board members should follow your example on discipline. Forget about paperless meetings.

When we find another superintendent, let’s get one who understands that you have to have discipline or some kind of control with these children. Because most of them sure don’t get it at home.
