Caesar Creek Lake: Musky fishermen have been out, reporting increased action. Try casting early, then switch to trolling. The areas around the Ohio 73 bridge, in front of the handicapped dock and all around Musky Cove have been active. Also try the flat fork area toward the Wellman ramp. Use Rat-L-Traps on 17-20 pound test with a wire leader. Saugeyes have been hitting along the bank across from the Wellman ramp. Jigging with nightcrawlers or large minnows on the flats is picking up with a few being caught by trolling around the island. Bass fishing has been good along the banks with spinners and topwater baits. Crappies have been hitting about five feet deep in the mouths of coves.

Indian Lake: Saugeye fishing is just starting as the lake temperature drops. A few have been caught by crappie fishermen using minnows. Crappies have been biting in the Moundwood channel at depths of 1-1.5 feet. Use minnows or waxworms.

Lake Loramie: Crappie fishing has been very good in brushy areas and around lily pads. Use minnows or white or chartreuse jigs tipped with waxworms. Plenty of bluegills are being caught along the channel banks, but most are small. Waxworms and redworms have been the best baits. Saugeyes have been caught by casting Rat-L-Traps or dragging crawler harnesses around the bridges. The Luthman Road area has been good. Catfish have been hitting nightcrawlers and shrimp all over the lake.

Cowan Lake: Crappie fishing is beginning to pick up along the drop-off in front of South Shore Marina. Use minnows and fish at varying depths. Also try working the coves on the north side of the lake. Bass fishing has been decent early in the morning along the banks. Use plastics or crankbaits. Try a topwater bait, too. An angler recently caught a 40-inch muskie while bass fishing.

Rocky Fork Lake: Anglers are catching white bass on Roostertails and Mepps around the Island and off of the south beach. Bass fishing has been good with fire-tiger crankbaits or green-pumpkinseed worms. Bluegills are hitting waxworms in the coves around wood. Saugeye and crappie fishing have been slow.

Paint Creek Lake: Bass fishing has been very good all over the lake. Use green/pumpkin plastics or shad-color crankbaits. Work the points, along the channel banks and around stumps and laydowns. Crappie fishing hasn’t picked up much. Most have been caught close to the bottom on minnows. Catfish have been hitting cut shad in the spillway and around the flats. Fish for white bass on the flats with in-line spinners.

C.J. Brown Reservoir: Good crappie fishing has been reported along the rocks and around the marina. Use minnows or waxworms. Walleyes have been caught over the old roadbed mostly by dragging crawler harnesses or casting Reef Runners or Hot-N-Tots in shallow water. For yellow perch, use minnows and fish around the fish attractors near the ramp. Bluegills have been hitting redworms and waxworms in the same spot.

Grand Lake St. Marys: Anglers are catching crappies all over the lake. The best places have been around docks and under pontoon boats. Use minnows or jigs tipped with waxworms. Bluegills have been hitting waxworms and redworms in brushy areas and around docks. Bass fishing has been good early in the morning with spinnerbaits around wood and off of rocks. Catfish have been hitting cut bait, chubs and nightcrawlers in shallow bays and in areas where water flows into the lake.

Acton Lake: Good crappie fishing has been reported along the rocks, using minnows in 5-8 feet of water. A few saugeyes have been caught in front of the lodge, also on minnows. Largemouth bass have been caught on white and chartreuse twisters off of points and around wood.

Lake Erie: Yellow perch fishing continues to be good in the western basin when weather allows. The best areas have been north of West Sister Island, around Niagara Reef, between Green Island and Rattlesnake Island, off of West Reef, and off of Ballast Island. There have been very few walleye reports from the western basin recently. The best reports have come from the area around Kelleys Island Shoal. Expect walleye fishing to improve as water temperatures drop and migratory walleye move back towards the west from the central basin.
