The Redhawks face a Northern Illinois team that has not had a winning season since 2005-2006.

About Northern Illinois: The Huskies, who haven’t had a winning season since going 17-11 in 2005-06, have beaten Judson (72-54) and SIU Edwardsville (65-54) this year. … Abdel Nader, a 6-7 sophomore wing, is the only NIU player averaging double figures in scoring (15.0). He served a seven-game team suspension to start the season. … Northern Illinois is shooting 37.5 percent from the field as a team. Only four Huskies are shooting better than 40 percent. … The Huskies are 0-7 on the road. They’re scoring 56.9 points per game and allowing an average of 65.0. … NIU has 187 turnovers and 111 assists this year.

About Miami: The RedHawks lead this series 25-13 and haven’t lost to NIU at Millett Hall since Feb. 21, 1981. … Redshirt junior center Drew McGhee has raised his field-goal percentage to a team-leading 54.1. … Redshirt junior guard Allen Roberts is shooting 86.9 percent (53 of 61) from the foul line. He currently ranks third among MU’s single-season leaders (minimum of 50 made), trailing Chuck Stahl (87.7 in 1982) and Landon Hackim (87.2 in 1996). … Miami has 173 assists and 164 turnovers this year. … Only two teams in the Mid-American Conference are giving up more than 70 points per game, Central Michigan (70.2) and the RedHawks (71.3).

Coach John Cooper on Northern Illinois: “I don’t see a 2-10 team because they continue to play with effort, and we’ve got to do a good job of handling their different defenses. They’re more of a halfcourt team than we’ve seen lately, but they certainly extend their defenses, their zone presses. We’ve got our hands full. They’re a hungry group.”
