Junior tight end Jaryd Brown is among the top receivers for the University of Findlay football squad this season.

The Valley View High School graduate has a team-leading 12 catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns, and the Oilers are off to a 2-0 start.

Findlay travels to Michigan Tech on Saturday.

• Sophomore defensive back Alec Fultz (Middletown) and senior defensive lineman Teddy Kuntz (Fenwick) are playing key roles for Denison, which is 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Fultz is third on the team with 15 total tackles and has three pass breakups. Kuntz has accumulated seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.

The Big Red will visit Hiram on Saturday.

• Redshirt senior Owen Elger (Springboro) is a starting offensive guard for Dayton (1-2), which hosts Jacksonville in a Pioneer Football League opener Saturday.

Volleyball

Sophomore setter Melanie Monahan (Fenwick) is pacing Mount St. Joseph with 202 assists. She also has 37 digs, seven blocks, four aces and four kills for the Lions (1-8).

The Mount will begin Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play at Bluffton on Wednesday.

Men’s golf

Junior Rick Denny (Valley View) was Wright State’s No. 3 golfer in the Marshall Invitational last week, tying for 23rd place in the individual standings with a 4-over-par 217 (76-71-70).

The Raiders tied Xavier for seventh place in the 16-team field, 31 strokes behind champion Virginia Tech.

Women’s soccer

Sophomore midfielder Jaclyn Elmore (Springboro) has started every game for Northern Kentucky (3-5), which hosts Jacksonville on Friday.

• Sophomore forward Sidney Huth (Lebanon) is Bowling Green’s top scorer. She has two of the five goals tallied by the Falcons (1-7), who kick off Mid-American Conference action at home Friday against Ohio.
