About Dayton

The Flyers lead the all-time series, 68-61. They only team they’ve played more than Miami is Xavier with 158 games. The RedHawks won nine straight in the series from 1990-98. UD has gone 9-3 since then.

UD was out-rebounded in a loss to Weber State (36-31) but has won the battle of the boards in every other game this season. Dillard went 8-for-8 from the foul line in an 81-76 win at Alabama on Wednesday and is shooting 86.4 percent. Pierre went 3-for-3 from the field against ‘Bama. He had an earlier streak of 10 straight field goals and is hitting 61 percent from the floor, including 50 percent on 3-pointers.

About Miami

Miami was 9-21 in Charlie Coles’ final season last year and was picked to finish last in the MAC East Division. The RedHawks’ three wins have come against Grambling State, William & Mary and James Madison. They were hammered by North Carolina State, Louisville and Evansville and squandered a 14-point lead in a one-point loss to IPFW.

Among the bright spots for MU has been the play of Rollins, a Wilmington native. With 32 assists and just 10 turnovers, he’s among the national leaders in assist-turnover ratio. Felder, a 6-foot-7 transfer from St. Francis (Pa.), is the team’s shooting leader (51.1 percent).

Miller time

UD coach Archie Miller hasn’t been hesitant to go to his bench. Freshmen Jalen Robinson and Khari Price are logging major minutes, and classmate Devon Scott has also been getting meaningful action. The 6-foot Price, who can handle both guard spots, played 19 minutes against Alabama and didn’t commit a turnover despite facing full-court pressure.

“At this point in time, if you show fear (about subbing), those guys out there on the floor die. They gas. They break down,” Miller said. “I thought Khari was awesome. When you’re able to come on the road as a true freshman and play against those guards and just not turn it over, it’s outstanding.”
