A Xenia man has been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a crash in October in Springboro that resulted in the death of a passenger.
A Warren County grand jury indicted Jason W. Shope, 42, of Xenia on the fourth-degree felony charge, according to a list issued Monday by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
Shope is accused of causing the death of Michelle Filson, 42, of Xenia on Oct. 23, 2012, while driving under suspension, according to the indictment.
Shope, driving a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire southbound on Main Street/Ohi0 741 , near Central Avenue/Ohio 73, attempted to pass a car driven by Warren County Coroner Russell Uptegrove. Shope’s car, rear-ended Uptegrove’s 2012 Ford 150 on the driver side, then struck a northbound 2005 Hyundai Elantra driven by Stephen D. Brown of Springboro.
Shope’s car rolled over. He and Brown were taken to Atrium Medical Center.
