SOUTHWEST OHIO —
The many slick spots created Thursday night by snow showers and falling temperatures prompted the National Weather Service to issus a winter weather advisory for several area counties until 4 Friday morning.
Counties included in the advisory are Darke, Miami, Clark, Preble, Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren, and Clinton counties in Ohio and Wayne and Union counties in Indiana.
Snow continues to taper southeast and after 1 a.m., only a few flurries will remain with those being long gone by sunrise, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said.
Another half-inch of snow could fall in spots across southern Greene, Warren, and Clinton counties only, he said, as it appears that some locations picked up 1 to 2 inches from Interstate 70 south during Thursday evening.
Overnight winds will diminish as well, but may still reach the range of 15 mph to 25 mph through Friday.
Wind chills will become the next concern for the region, Simpson said, as temperatures dip to near zero at midnight and 5 to 10 degrees below at sunrise.
Even though some sun returns Friday, highs will only reach the mid to upper teens and afternoon wind chills will still be in the single digits.
Clouds could move in again Friday night as light snow moves in by sunrise Saturday.
The forecast for Saturday looks like steady snow in the morning, then on-and-off snow in the afternoon. Some snow showers will linger Saturday night and into Sunday morning with accumulations in the range of 2 to 3 inches. Some spots could get 4 inches by the time the snow ends.
Look for two more batches of light snow in the later part of the day on Monday moving into Tuesday.
