‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestant search in Monroe

MONROE —

Wheel of Fortune will be at Treasure Aisles Flea Market next month searching for contestants.

The game show’s “Wheelmobile,” a 39-foot long, 13-foot tall bright yellow Winnebago, will stop from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 and 14 at the flea market at 320 N. Garver Road, which is next to Joe Morgan Honda and off Ohio 63.

There will be three shows each day of the “Wheelmobile” event that will take place in the Aisle 6 area located within Treasure Aisles, according to Fox 19, the Cincinnati affiliate that airs Wheel of Fortune at 7 p.m. weekdays. People will be directed to the north side of the facility leading to the Aisle 6 area.

After the mobile auditions, show officials will chose candidates based on their performance for a final round of auditions to be taken place in the Cincinnati area within a couple months after the last “Wheelmobile” event date.

If a person is not invited on stage at the Treasure Aisles audition, show officials said there will be some people drawn at random to be invited to the final auditions.

The “Wheelmobile” travels nationwide holding auditions for future contestants. Last year, more than 1 million people requested the chance to audition for Wheel of Fortune and fewer than 600 people were selected to appear on the show, according to the Wheel of Fortune website.

All contestants are responsible for expenses incurred, such as accommodations and travel, to the audition sites or the taping of the show in Los Angeles (or another city if it’s being taped on remote), according to the site.

Treasure Aisles opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, and upon arrival people seeking to be a contestant will be directed to the best available parking area.

Event organizers say there is no need to show up hours in advance. Applications, which everyone must submit, will be handed out an hour before each show begins. The hour-long shows are scheduled at noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Participants invited to audition at the “Wheelmobile” event will be selected at random. Every participant invited on the stage will be awarded a a prize.
