Driver in serious condition after two-car accident

MIDDLETOWN —

One of the drivers in a two-car accident Tuesday in Middletown is listed in serious condition this morning at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Stephen Downs, 44, of Middletown, was flown to the hospital after the accident that occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Oxford State Road, according to Middletown fire officials.

The two other people involved in the accident, Wanda Armstrong and Carl Armstrong, of Trenton, were transported to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown. They were not listed in the hospital’s directory this morning, hospital officials said.

When Middletown paramedics arrived, the two cars involved in the accident were about 500 feet apart near the intersection of Oxford State and Navaho Street, said Paul Lolli, deputy fire chief.

The accident remains under investigation, according to Middletown police.

The Monroe fire department assisted at the scene, Lolli said.
