Three hospitalized after collision in Franklin Twp.

Three people were admitted to Atrium Hospital on Sunday with non-life threatening injuries after a near head-on accident at the State Route 123 and Robinson-Vail Road just east of Franklin.

According to Trooper Rob Waulk of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a southbound 2011 Chevrolet Cruze driven by an 86-year-old man went slightly left of center and made contact with a northbound 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a male.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday. Franklin Twp. firefighters had cleared both lanes of State Route 123 by 1:45 p.m.

The left front of the Cruze hit the Cavalier on its left side, sending the Cavalier off the road to the right and into the front yard of 5500 State Route 123. Franklin Twp. firemen had to cut the left side door off of the Cavalier to get the driver out.

Waulk said the driver of the Cruze would likely be cited for going left of center.

Both drivers were taken to Atrium Medical Center by ambulance. The female passenger in the Cavalier was injured by the car’s airbag. She was taken to Atrium by a family friend.

Waulk said he could not release the names of the occupants until the families had been notified. He did say that he believed all three had non life-threatening injuries.

Officials at Atrium Medical Center said the two drivers were in stable condition. Both drivers would likely be released later Sunday, the hospital spokesperson said.
