The Rev. Jesse Jackson will be in Cincinnati on Tuesday to urge people to register to vote, which is the last day to register to vote in the November presidential election.

Jackson, a civil rights leader and founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition,will be make two stops in Cincinnati to encourage voter registration and to vote on Nov. 7, or before. Early voting in Ohio began on Oct. 2.

Jackson will speak to the “the importance of participation in the electoral process” and address the perceived nationwide effort to suppress voter turnout among targeted populations during a morning press conference at Rockdale Baptist Church, according to a release by Progress Ohio.

The reverend will also meet with key ministerial leaders and speak at a rally at Cincinnati State Technical & Community College in Clifton to urge the students “to become active participants in the political process this year,” according to the release.

“Rev. Jackson will address the efforts to combat unprecedented voter suppression efforts in Ohio and across the country — placed in the historic context of the fight for civil rights and economic justice,” according to the release. “He will be prepared to discuss: the dynamics of early voting; his appeal to register on the last day of voter registration and on why it is important to participate in early voting.”

The first event, a press conference, is set for 11 a.m. at Rockdale Baptist Church, 539 Forest Ave., in Cincinnati.

The second event, a voter registration rally is set for 1:15 p.m. at Cincinnati State, 3520 Central Parkway. It will be on the first floor of the Advanced Technological Learning Center Building.
