As sunshine melts the snow this afternoon, be prepared for icy patches on roadways as temperatures drop overnight.

Temperatures will stay above freezing until midnight, then dip into the upper 20s overnight with partly cloudy skies, according to Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson.

As temperatures drop, the runoff from melting ice and snow could refreeze and cause some hazardous road conditions.

“Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight which will lead to some sun early tomorrow,” Simpson said. “Then we’ll cloud back up with showers arriving late in the day tomorrow. We will eventually get into the 40s again tomorrow but it may not happen until evening.”

More rain is expected Friday with the potential for thunder before sunrise, Simpson added.

The above average temperatures will peak on Saturday with highs expected at 60 or higher. Rain returns Sunday and into Monday, with temperatures hovering in the 40s, Simpson said.
