The Special Operations Unit and Middletown police executed a search warrant for narcotics in the 1300 block of Woodlawn Avenue. Charles Jones, 20, and Kayla Riley, 21, were arrested and transported to the city jail. Jones was charged with drug abuse/heroin and Riley was charged with permitting drug abuse and drug paraphernalia.

A traffic stop led to an arrest of a Middletown man, Leo Adams, for numerous offenses, including drug abuse/paraphernalia, drug abuse/marijuana, reckless operation, driving under suspension and criminal trespass. After Adams, 25, of Park Lane, was pulled over for not having a front license plate, he took off, then stopped at McKinley Street and North Avenue. He exited his vehicle without putting it in park, and the vehicle, unoccupied, hit a fire hydrant. The car was damaged, however, there was no damage to the hydrant. Police chased Adams on foot through several yards and alleys. Adams was found hiding under a back porch in the 200 block of Harrison Street.

The Special Operations Unit and Middletown police executed a search warrant for narcotics in the 0 block of North Sutphin Street. No one was home and police found 1.5 grams of crack cocaine in the kitchen above the sink. David Gates, 42, North Sutphin Street, later turned himself into the police lobby and he was booked for drug abuse/crack cocaine.
Police stopped a man who was walking in the 2200 block of Sherman Avenue because he was carrying a chainsaw. The man told police he had borrowed the chain saw, but upon further questioning, the man dropped the saw and ran.
A woman who lives in the 2200 block of Sherman Avenue told police a man stole her car, a Dodge Stratus, and $900 in cash out of her purse. The man then took off in the car and intentionally rammed her parked car, a Mazda Protégé.
A woman who lives in the 1800 block of North Avenue told police that she was gone from her home for 30 minutes and someone entered through a bathroom window and stole her Toshiba laptop computer and $100 she had hidden under her pillow. She suspects a relative.
Three stainless steel sinks, a lawn mower and a scaffold were stolen from a shed in the 1800 block of North Avenue.
A kitchen table was stolen from a shed in the 1800 block of North Avenue.
A $300 Seiko watch, a cast-iron skillet, a Liz Claiborne billfold and dryer filters were stolen from a residence in the 4500 block of Creekview Avenue.
A fire safe that contained $1,050 in cash was among the items stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Baltimore Street. A Hewlit Packard laptop computer and prescriptions also were stolen.
Jan. 8
More than $20,000 worth of items and damage was done to a property in the 1800 block of Columbia Avenue. Someone entered through a basement door and took 13 copper door knobs, vents, vanities, furnace doors, and copper wiring. They also took the air conditioning unit from outside. They also vandalized the walls and floors throughout the residence while locating the wiring.
A Franklin man, Robert Lucas, 45, was charged with burglary, possession of criminal tools, criminal damaging, driving under suspension and for two warrants after he was caught allegedly stealing from a home in the 2700 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. Police found the vehicle matching the description of the one fleeing the residence. Police found a black bass guitar, Panasonic camcorder, laptop computer, Toshiba DVD player and Sylvania VHS/DVD player in the vehicle.
A 32-inch Toshiba TV and a Kindle Fire were stolen from a home in the 1100 block of Yankee Road. The thieves entered through a window and left out the front door.
A woman said she bought a pack of cigarettes and a soda pop for a friend, and she told him she paid for the items with a $100 bill and she had $93 left. Then her friend grabbed the $93 and ran to an upstairs apartment in the 300 block of Charles Street. Police were unable to find the subject.
