Police reports: School fight leads to arrest

Nov. 7

Two people were charged after the Middletown Police Department’s Special Operations Unit searched a home in the 1800 block of Wayne Avenue. Reginald Thornton, 40, of Wayne Avenue, was charged with drug paraphernalia and a bench warrant for his arrest for failure to comply/$4,630. A woman in the house was released. A vehicle in the area was stopped and Devonte Thornton, of Wayne Avenue, was arrested for his bench warrant for failure to comply/$580 and drug abuse/marijuana.

Nov. 14

When a Middletown couple returned to their home in the 600 block of Dorset Drive, they were surprised to find a bag of groceries with bacon and cream cheese sitting on the counter. They hadn’t been shopping. Nothing was missing in the house and the doors and windows were locked.

Nov. 18

A taxi driver said when he dropped off a passenger in the 3100 block of Yankee Road, the man refused to pay the $42.58 fare from Hamilton. The man said he’d return with his mother’s credit card, but he never returned.

A teenager tried to pay for his purchase at UDF, 101 N. University Blvd., with a counterfeit $5. He then paid with a real $10. The clerk said the teen had seven more $5 bills, all counterfeit. The teen was located and he told police he found the bills on the ground.

Nov. 19

Three Middletown High School students — two girls and one boy — were charged after a fight escalated in the hallways and a staff member was injured. When John Landers tried to break up the fight between two female students, he hit his arm and wrist on the metal lockers and he was treated by a school nurse. One girl was charged with felonious assault, assault, and disorderly conduct; another was charged with assault and disorderly conduct; and a male student was charged with disorderly conduct because of his cussing and interference with school officials.

A 74-year-old Middletown woman said she was robbed of her purse while she was loading groceries into her car in the parking lot of Marsh, 671 N. University Blvd. She told police that a man grabbed her purse out of the cart, and he ran out of the parking lot toward American Savings and Loan. He was later seen riding a bike across University. The woman’s purse and its contents was found behind the bank.

A iPod was stolen from a bedroom in the 1800 block of Columbia Avenue. The night before the family hosted a birthday party.

There was no forced entry, but an XBox 360 was stolen from a home in the 600 block of Jackson Lane.
