Dec. 19
An 18-by-20-foot sheet metal steel shelter was stolen before 3:32 a.m. from a home in the 4400 block of Dixie Highway. The screws that held the shelter together was left behind. The victim believes whoever stole it was going to scrap the metal for cash.
A .22-caliber loaded rifle was stolen before 10:03 a.m. from an apartment int he 1400 block of Villa Court. Access to the apartment was gained through a window and a finger print was retrieved.
Two televisions, a laptop and a Wii gaming system was stolen before 12:45 p.m. from a home in the 2400 block of Saybrooke Drive. Access to the home was gained through the rear door.
A carpet cleaner was stolen from a van before 1 p.m. in the 1900 block of Central Avenue. The cleaner was rented from Dollar General on North University Boulevard.
Dec. 20
A 27-year-old Trenton woman was arrested at 3:05 a.m. near U.D.F., 101 N. Verity Parkway, on suspicion of petty theft and possession of drug abuse instruments. Police say she went into the store and stole multiple items and left without paying. The Middletown woman she was with had a warrant out of Trenton.
A 30-year-old Middletown woman was arrested at 9:43 a.m. in the 1200 block of Girard Avenue on suspicion of petty theft and obstructing official business. Police say the woman stuffed $28.85 worth of merchandise under her jacket, and when confronted by employees, she told them she was pregnant and why her coat was so large. Her mother-in-law came back to the store and took police to her daughter-in-law, who was hiding under her children’s bunk bed.
Someone stole an air-conditioning unit before 10:32 a.m. from a home in the 200 block of Baltimore Street. The unit was found gutted of its internal parts on the south side of the home. The house was vacant and this missing unit was noticed by a real estate agent.
Someone slashed the front driver’s side tire to a vehicle before 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of Flemming Road.
Someone stole an XBox Live starter kit, two GameBoy Advance devices and five games, 30 to 40 XBox games, about 20 Nintendo DS games, six Godzilla action figures, two books from the Twlight series, and art and craft books before 1 p.m. from an apartment in the 1700 block of Central Avenue.
A 55-year-old Hamilton man was arrested at 1:14 a.m. at Walmart, 2900 Towne Blvd., on suspicion of shoplifting and petty theft. Police say he stole $250 worth of merchandise.
A Meijer employee was arrested at 4:24 p.m. at the store at 3651 Towne Blvd. on suspicion of petty theft. Police say the 32-year-old Middletown man would pretend to scan some merchandise, remove the security tag, and allow it to be removed from the store. They accounted for more than $650 worth of merchandise stolen on Dec. 20.
Two pairs of shoes, a cellphone and miscellaneous clothing was stolen before 9:45 p.m. from a home in the 800 block of 16th Avenue. The victim said she left her home unlocked for about 15 minutes and when she returned someone had stolen the items.
Dec. 21
Two rings were stolen before 1:13 p.m. from a home in the 200 block of Vanderveer Street. The rings were in a glass jewelry box in a bedroom.
A wallet, $400, several gift cars and personal documents were stolen before 7:01 p.m. at KFC, 2211 N. Verity Parkway.
Two men allegedly took a washer and dryer from a semi-trailer at Lowe’s, 3125 Towne Blvd., and loaded them into the back of a pickup truck. The theft was noticed by a customer who retrieved a partial license plate number.
Dec. 22
A Dayton man was arrested at 12:52 a.m. in the 6800 block of Hamilton-Middletown Road on suspicion of possession of drug abuse instruments, failure to control and operating an unsafe motor vehicle following a traffic accident.
A purse with $50, various bank cards, a cellphone and personal documents was stolen before 12:59 p.m. from a vehicle in the 2200 block of Superior Avenue. The victim said she left something in her home as she was leaving, left the purse in her car and when she returned a few minutes later it was gone.
Someone stole several pieces of jewelry, three purses and a coat before 4:25 p.m. from an apartment in the 1900 block of Aaron Drive. The reported total value of the items stolen was reported to be more than $3,000. Police say the suspect was in jail.
A vehicle was stolen before 9:06 p.m. in the 100 block of Orchard Street. Police say the back window was broken out.
