Police reports: $10K in tools stolen from garage while owner in prison

March 1

A 32-year-old man from Williamstown, Ky., Damien Taylor, originally was charged with petty theft after he allegedly stole $8.15 worth of gum, peanuts and beef jerky from UDF, 101 N. Verity Parkway. Once he was transported to the City Jail, officers discovered heroin and a straw in his possession. He then was charged with drug abuse/heroin, conveyance of drugs into a detention facility and possession of drug paraphernalia.

March 4

A man who was in the Internet Café, 421 S. Breiel Blvd., said someone broke into his vehicle and stole the battery out of his car.

A Middletown man said his IRS check for $453 was stolen and cashed at a Middletown bank. The check was removed from a mailbox in the 500 block of Garfield Street.

A 51-inch flatscreen TV and video games were stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue.

March 5

Five air conditioner units, valued at $5,000, were stolen out of a garage in the 2300 block of Oxford State Road. They gained entry by kicking in the garage door.

A Matco tool box, valued at $10,000, was stolen from a garage in the 4400 block of Tytus Avenue. The woman said the tools belonged to her boyfriend, who’s incarcerated in the Kentucky Department of Corrections.

March 6

Five bags of clothing were stolen from a residence in the 700 block of Charles Street. The woman told police the clothes belonged to a friend who was visiting from Georgia.

A Middletown man, McKinley Burggraf, of Earl Avenue, was charged with trafficking in marijuana, endangering children, obstructing official business and obstructive view after he was pulled over at Fourteenth Avenue and Wisconsin. Police found 58.8 grams of marijuana and a digital scale in the vehicle. The 3-year-old child in the car was placed with the mother.

A woman who works at Garden Manor, 6898 Hamilton-Middletown Road, said someone stole her wallet and keys out of her coat pocket. Her wallet contained her ID, social security card and food stamp card.
