MILFORD TWP. —

Police are looking for the driver who stole a car and caused a single-vehicle crash with it late Thursday that has left three people hospitalized.

Around 11:15 p.m., a male driver in a 2007 Ford Taurus traveling north on Hamilton Eaton Road reportedly lost control of the vehicle in the 5000 block and crashed at the railroad tracks near Harris Road, according to Deputy Brian Bussell of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Bussell said the driver fled the scene on foot, and deputies found three injured passengers inside the vehicle. Two victims had to extricated from the vehicle.

Kalib Stapleton, 18, of Somerville was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton where he is listed in serious condition, according to hospital officials.

Bussell said Krystal McDavid, 27, of Camden was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown and the third passenger, Stalia Nelson, 17, of Somerville was taken to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Their conditions are unknown.

“Preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed,” said Sgt. Monte Mayer. The crash remains under investigation by the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.

The vehicle involved was reported stolen around 2 a.m. Friday by Jessica R. Adams, 23, of the 7000 block of Somers Gratis Road in Camden. The woman’s father, Gregory A. Adams, is the vehicle’s owner and said she had permission to use it, according to the incident report from the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.

Jessica Adams reported to the sheriff’s office she was at a party in Somerville when the vehicle was taken. She told authorities a friend of hers had taken the vehicle, but the identity of the driver has not been determined, according to Preble County Sheriff Michael Simpson.

After reporting the vehicle stolen and speaking with deputies at her home, Jessica Adams was arrested on a disorderly conduct intoxication charge, according to Simpson.

According to Preble County Sheriff’s Office, Jessica Adams had reported the vehicle stolen the previous night while partying with friends. Police reports indicate it was determined she had let an unlicensed driver use the car.

“The vehicle was found in the city of Eaton and the father didn’t pursue charges; he just wanted his car back,” Simpson said.
