MIAMI TOWNSHIP —
A Franklin man is dead after a crash early Sunday morning on northbound I-75 near the I-675 ramp.
The vehicle, a 2004 Kia minivan drifted off the left side of the road and eventually struck a drainage ditch, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The driver, 53-year-old Rickey Helton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m.
“The crash and cause of the death remain under investigation,” the highway patrol said in a release issued Sunday afternoon.
Miami Twp. fire and rescue crews and Miami Twp. police were also on scene. According to OSP, troopers are working with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office to determine whether Helton’s death was related to the crash or was a medical issue.
