Ohioans considering college can now access free resources online to help them prepare for and choose a college or career-technical program and identify financial aid to help pay for it.

OhioMeansSuccess.org was launched Thursday by the Ohio Board of Regents as a tool for prospective students and their families find the best and most affordable education that will connect them with a career.

The website includes an interactive college search feature for easy comparison of schools and a credit transfer tool to explore which classes will count toward a degree at another institution, according to the Board of Regents. There is also a function for veterans to see how their military training and experience may count for college credit.

“In today’s highly competitive and global economy, every Ohioan needs to pursue post-secondary education because the only certainty is that the jobs of tomorrow will flow to communities, states and nations where people have the education to fill them,” said Regents Chancellor Jim Petro.

“Whether you are completing a one-year, two-year or four-year degree or certificate, OhioMeansSuccess can help you find a faster, more efficient path to completion that will save money and start you on your way to a promising career,” Petro said in a news release.

Through the website, students can also explore possible careers available now and in the future, create a personal account to receive email reminders about important tasks and deadlines and identify options for non-traditional students, such as online and evening and weekend degree programs, according to the Board of Regents.
