Middletown firefighter injured in crash on Ohio 4

By Rick McCrabb

MONROE —

A off-duty Middletown firefighter was flown by medical helicopter to a Cincinnati hospital following a one-vehicle accident this morning on Ohio 4.

Scott Jones, 39, a 13-year veteran of the fire department, sustained bumps and bruises, but no broken bones in the accident, said Chris Klug, vice president of the Middletown Professional Fire Fighters Local 336. Klug, who was at the hospital with Jones’ family, said he was told by doctors that the firefighter might be released from University of Cincinnati Hospital Friday night.

Klug said Jones, who lives in Trenton with his wife and three children, was driving from his home to the Tractor Supply Company on Ohio 4 when he wrecked. Jones was alone in his vehicle and the only one involved in the accident. He doesn’t remember the accident, Klug said.

Liberty Twp. medic units were called for mutual aid and the helicopter landed at the former Americana Amusement Park.
