A man in his 50s was transported to the hospital after being burned inside a mobile home in the 6500 block of Germantown Road early Saturday morning.

Family members said Carl Wells and another woman, who they identified as Mary Davidson, were inside the mobile home when it burst into flames around 2 a.m. Saturday. Wells was transported to Atrium Medical Center and later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital, where he is being treated for burns. He remained in critical condition Saturday evening. According to family members Wells suffered third degree burns.

Davidson was not injured, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Amanda Wells, Carl’s daughter, said Davidson pounded on her door asking for help after she woke up to find the smoke and intense flames. Davidson was on the computer and began to smell the smoke and that’s when she got out of the house, according to Wells.

Wells ran down the street to find the house engulfed in flames, but she saw no sign of her dad. “My dad wasn’t outside. He was still in the trailer,” she said.

A short time later Carl Wells was rescued from the burning trailer and transported to the hospital.

The home sustained heavy damage as a result of the flames and and official cause is not yet known.

The early morning fire is still under investigation.
