ST. CLAIR TWP. —

A neighbor is behind bars accused of stabbing a man Saturday night at Airway Mobile Home Park on U.S. 127 in St. Clair Twp just outside the Village of Seven Mile..

John Tittle, 58, of the mobile home park, told sheriff’s detectives that a suspect he knew entered his home about 8:45 p.m. and stabbed him in the neck. Tittle was able to shove the suspect into the bathtub and flee to a neighboring relative’s home, where they called for help.

The suspect, Tommy Lyons, 51, was located by Village of Seven Mile Police Chief Billy Back at his home a few doors from Tittle’s residence. Lyons is charged with attempted murder, aggravated burglary, and tampering with evidence. He is currently being held on $500,000 bond at the Butler County Jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 17 in Hamilton Municipal Court.

Lyons was charged with tampering with evidence because he hid bloody gloves and the knife used in the attack, said Lt. Mike Craft of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

“There was an ongoing feud between them,” Craft said, noting the feud may have involved a woman. But there was no fight or argument immediately before the attack, he said.

Tittle was originally transported by ambulance to Atrium Hospital in Middletown, but was later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he remains hospitalized.
