MIDDLETOWN —
MALACHI Youth Opportunities Program will have its third annual Perry Thatcher Youth Leadership Conference Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at at Johnston Hall at Miami University Middletown, 4200 N. University Blvd.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.
MALACHI Youth Opportunities Program, which is under the umbrella of Middletown Adolescent Leaders Achieve, was created to provide services for at-risk youth by strengthening their protective factors.
The conference will focus on four core areas that pertain to youth as leaders in their perspective communities: Leadership, Teamwork, Branding vs. Reputation, and Aggressive vs. Assertive.
The MALACHI Youth Advisory Board consists of youth participants that create, plan and facilitate activities that will engage the other youth in the program. Miami University Middletown has agreed to collaborate with MALACHI to host this event at their campus. Thatcher, who a former local businessman, city councilman and humanitarian, died on Jan. 28, 2010, at 79 years old.
Every youth attending will receive a T-shirt and drawstring bag. Lunch will be provided to every youth that attends.
