WARREN COUNTY —
Warren County sheriff’s detectives are looking for an alleged credit card thief.
Detectives are asking for help in locating James W. Barton, a 23-year-old white male from Cincinnati. He has allegedly used credit cards that were stolen from medical facilities in Warren, Clinton, Butler, Montgomery and Hamilton Counties. The cards were then used in retail stores to purchase electronics.
Detective Susan Horne said she hasn’t compared notes with officials in all the other jurisdictions yet, but the illegal purchases she is aware of from the Warren County card theft total about $1,800.
She said Barton is allegedly stealing purses or just credit cards left unattended at hospitals and doctor’s offices in the area. She said people need to take precautions.
“It’s not just patients, but employees need to make sure that their personal belongings are secure, even in areas that they may think are secure, they need to take extra measures to make sure that they are safe,” she said.
Barton is wanted for receiving stolen property, forgery and misuse of a credit card.
Anyone has information on Barton’s whereabouts should contact Horne at 513-695-1280 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
