Man charged with raping girl

By Rick McCrabb

MIDDLETOWN —

A Middletown man faces a lifetime prison sentence without parole if convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl.

Danny M. Green, 46, of Yankee Road, was charged with rape, a first-degree felony, with a possible lifetime sentence because the alleged victim was younger than 13 at the time. Middletown police served a temporary protection order Wednesday night on Green at Leisure Town, 3485 Commerce Drive, where he works.

Police followed him to his residence in the 200 block of Yankee Road and took his firearm, a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber, police said. He was then taken to the detective section of the Middletown Division of Police and charged with rape.

The alleged incident occurred about six years ago when the alleged victim was 10, said Lt. Scott Reeve. The alleged rape occurred in Green’s home, according to court documents. Reeve said additional charges may be filed against Green.

Middletown Municipal Court Judge Mark Wall set Green’s bond at $500,000 on Friday morning. Green’s attorney Daniel Allnut argued for a lower bond, but Wall refused, saying he was concerned that Green may harm himself or his family.

His preliminary hearing was set for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 1.

He remained in the Middletown City Jail on Friday.
