Kariann Lawhorn, Brooke Fogel and Jack Greenlee didn’t know each other. But it turns out they each will turn 12 years old on Dec. 12, 2012.

Twelve on 12/12/12.

“It’s special, I guess, but you don’t really think about it,” said Lawhorn, a sixth grader at Independence Elementary. “We’re celebrating it like we normally do, I think.”

But mom, Traci Lawhorn of Liberty Township, says she and husband Alan have “a few surprises” planned for the date that Kariann wasn’t aware of.

“Wow, I didn’t know that. I can’t wait,” Lawhorn said.

Fogel, a Mason Intermediate School student, said the day was “pretty special,” but she didn’t know whether she was doing anything special to celebrate the occasion.

Fogel’s mom, Barb, said she and her husband Joel have special plans under wraps for the occasion as well.

Lori and Tom Greenlee plan on taking their son out for a nice evening celebration at Jag’s Steak and Seafood restaurant in their hometown of West Chester.

“Jack’s initials are J.A.G., so we figured Jag’s would be appropriate,” Lori Greenlee explained.

All stand about the same height. All have brown hair. All are the youngest sibling in their families.

But that’s about where the similarities end.

Lawhorn and Greenlee were both born at Bethesda North Hospital; Fogel was born that same day at Christ Hospital.

Greenlee’s obviously a boy with brown eyes, the other two are girls with blue eyes.

Fogel and Greenlee are right handed; Lawhorn’s a lefty.

Lawhorn and Greenlee wear glasses; Fogel does not.

It gets even weirder. Dads Joel Fogel and Tom Greenlee both celebrate their birthdays on Oct. 10.

Many of us won’t be part of another day like it in our lifetimes. The next time that the month, date and year all end in the same number will be 89 years from now — Jan. 1, 2101 — when Kariann, Brooke and Jack will turn 101.
