Gap tightens in Carlisle school levy

By John Bombatch

With two of seven precincts in Warren County reporting, the Carlisle Local Schools 4.9-mill, 5-year emergency operating levy is failing.

However, when compared to the earlier absentee ballot-only count, the margin is tightening.

Should the levy pass, it would generate $812,865 annually and cost the owner of a $100,000 home an additional $150.06 per year.

“Unless something changes and we lose, we’ll have to make some decisions with the board about our next steps in terms of reductions and as far as where we go from here,” district superintendent Larry Hook said. “We’ve talked about those things and they’re going to be bad for the school district and bad for kids, but we’ve been as clear and straight forward as we can be.”
