Former meth lab resident arrested

By Staff Staff

A Preble County man is facing several charges following a physical altercation with a sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday, according to a press release.

Jerry Worley, 54, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, theft, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and possession of drugs after the deputy responded to Worley’s former residence in the 2900 block of Eaton Gettysburg Road, which is the same location where a significant methamphetamine lab was located on Oct. 5, according to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson.

When the deputy arrived, a physical altercation took place before the suspect fled on foot, the release said. He was located a short time later in a tree line, but continued to resist and deputies were forced to deploy mace and a Taser to affect the arrest, the release said. Neither the deputies nor the suspect were injured, according to the release.

The release also said upon further investigation, deputies located evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing in the suspect’s vehicle, including tubing and a plastic bottle, several glass jars that contained waste products from the manufacturing process that tested positive for anhydrous ammonia and a small amount of methamphetamine.
