George Donald Davis II, the Cincinnati man police have called a “person of interest” in the death of a Fairfield teenager, is scheduled to enter a plea and have a trial date set during a hearing July 26 in Butler County Common Pleas Court.

Davis, 24, was scheduled to be arraigned this morning, but his case was continued, a court spokeswoman said. Earlier this month he was indicted on felony charges of trafficking in heroin, importuning and compelling prostitution.

Davis allegedly sent a text message to 15-year-old Chelsea Johnson on April 15 and offered to give her drugs, including heroin, in exchange for sex, according to Fairfield Chief Mike Dickey. Johnson was found stabbed to death April 16 near the Heritage Glen Apartments between Pleasant Avenue and River Road.

Dickey has called Davis a “person of interest” in the investigation, but he has not been charged with Johnson’s death.

Davis was arrested May 22 on a probation violation. He remains in Butler County Jail. During a preliminary hearing for Davis in June, Detective Michael Woodall testified that Johnson’s cell phone contained text messages from Davis. The text messages were sent April 15, the last day Johnson was seen alive.
