LEBANON — The former Mason High School physical education teacher accused of having sexual relations with five male students in fall 2010 has opted to waive her right to a jury trial.

Following a pretrial conference Wednesday, Stacy Schuler, 33, signed a waiver for a jury trial that was scheduled to begin Monday in Warren County Common Pleas Court. Judge Robert Peeler will hear the case.

Schuler is accused of supplying three of the five male students with alcohol and having sexual relations with the students on several occasions between August and September 2010 at her Springboro home.

She originally entered a plea of not guilty to the charges and later changed her plea to not guilty by reason of insanity.

Schuler’s attorneys contend she was impaired and that the students took advantage of her and she was helpless to stop it.

Schuler is free on bond and is living in Centerville with her parents. Peeler granted a motion Wednesday to have the GPS monitoring device removed from her ankle.

The young men told police they had sex in Schuler’s home. They also said they saw inappropriate photos on her phone and computer, according to prosecutors.

The allegations against Schuler were reported to school officials anonymously on Jan. 10. On Jan. 18, the 10-year Mason teacher was placed on paid administrative leave and has since resigned.
