Clearcreek Twp. police awarded traffic safety grant

By Staff Staff

The Clearcreek Twp. police department announced today it has been awarded $27,402.70 in traffic safety grants from the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Office of Criminal Justice Services.

The funding is for the fiscal year 2012, according to Chief John Terrill.

“Partnerships are critical to the success of any safety effort and we are committed to working with our state and federal traffic safety partners to address traffic safety concerns in Clearcreek Twp.,” he said.

Police officials have determined the grant funds will be used to provide for high visibility traffic enforcement at strategic times throughout the next 12 months. The goal is to decrease traffic fatalities, alcohol related traffic crashes, and motorcycle related crashes, as well as to increase seat belt and child safety restraint usage.
