CLEARCREEK TWP. —

A 10-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a crash Friday night on Ohio 48 was in good condition on Saturday.

On Friday, a GMC Suburban traveling south on Ohio 48 struck a Mini Cooper that pulled out from Stone Creek Boulevard shortly after 7 p.m., according to Sgt. Larry Cornett, Clearcreek Twp. police. The Suburban struck the Cooper in the passenger side where 10-year-old Sam Kessler was sitting; he became entrapped in the wreckage and was extricated by Clearcreek Twp. Fire and Rescue personnel, Cornett said.

Sam Kessler was taken by CareFlight to Dayton Children’s Medical Center. The hospital said on Saturday his condition had improved and he was expected to be released in the near future.

Sam’s father Paul Kessler, 49, of Dayton was driving and was also injured. He was taken by life squad to Miami Valley Hospital where he was treated and released.

Angela Dillend, 34, of Waynesville, was driving the Suburban with her 7-month-old child, Chase. Angela was treated at the scene and the infant was taken to Sycamore Hospital as a precaution, Cornett said.

Cornett said Paul Kessler will be cited for failure to yield.
