Caesar Creek Flea Market plans re-opening celebration

By Skip Weaver

A re-opening celebration is planned for Jan. 5-6 at the Caesar Creek Flea Market located on Ohio 73 at the I-71, exit 45 near Wilmington in Clinton County.

A fire struck the flea market on March 16 this year, forcing all of its indoor vendors and merchants out of their retail space while the entire 125,000-square-foot flea market was renovated. The fire destroyed only 8 percent of the structure, but smoke damage reached throughout the seven buildings and the main aisle requiring the entire flea market to be gutted and renovated.

“It was our plan from the beginning to get vendors and merchants back in business as quickly as possible,” said Greg Dove, president of Levin Service Company, which has owned the flea market since 1982.

The company has been re-opening one building a month since June, Dove said.

The re-opening celebration will include entertainment, contests, door prizes, give-aways and even a chance to walk away with $10,000.
