Burglary investigation leads to suspected marijuana growing operation

By Lauren Pack

A man is facing drug charges after a burglary investigation at his St. Clair Twp. residence turned up a marijuana growing operation, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

A concerned family member called the Butler County Sheriff’s Office after finding the rear door of the residence at 1326 Grandview Ave., kicked in Monday night. When deputies entered to look for burglary suspects, they found a room of the basement containing eight plants believed to be marijuana, grow lights, and walls lined with aluminum foil, said Lt. Mike Craft.

The resident, Brain Hacker, 51, was already in the Butler County Jail after being arrested by the Hamilton Police Department on Sunday for abduction, assault on a police officer and retaliation.

“It looked like in the next room he was in the process of building another grow room,” Craft said. “It is a big room. I guess he was so successful with the eight plants. He was planning on going big time.”

Drug charges are pending lab test results of the plants, Craft said.
