Five-figure bonds were set Monday for two Middletown men arrested Friday after they were found with a loaded assault rifle and several boxes of ammunition on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Roderick Robinson, 29, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday morning in Middletown Municipal Court. However, Christian Robinson, 27, did not waive his preliminary hearing and will have his case heard before Judge Mark Wall next week.

Both men were charged with having weapons while under disability. Christian Robinson was also charged with possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine and tampering with evidence.

Both men have been assigned a public defender and are in the city jail. Roderick Robinson’s bond was set at $50,000. Christian Robinson’s bond was set at $95,000. It’s anticipated that Roderick Robinson will be transferred to the Butler County Jail, according to police.

The men were arrested Friday after police received several calls of shots fired in the 2300 and 3500 blocks of Roosevelt Boulevard. Officers were in the area of the 3500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard when the last of the shots were fired, according to police.

Officers located the vehicle suspected to be involved in the incident at 3715 Roosevelt Blvd.

Spent shell casings were found around the vehicle and an AK-47 assault rifle in the car’s trunk, according to police. Both men were seen running from the vehicle and were arrested nearby after a brief search.

The assault rifle had 17 rounds in its magazine and one round in its chamber. A gym bag contained several boxes of different types of ammunition, a flashlight and a scope.

Christian Robinson has had several prior drug or alcohol offenses since 2004, according to court records. Roderick Robinson, 29, of Middletown has also had several prior drug and alcohol offenses dating back to 2001, according to court records.
