Assistant County Administrator to take new position

Assistant Butler County Administrator Pete Landrum is leaving for a new position in Hamilton County.

Pete Landrum submitted his resignation early this month and his last on the job as leader of the county office of management and budget will be Sept. 28. Landrum, a resident of Montgomery County, will begin his new job Oct. 1 as Delhi Twp. administrator.

Landrum, 43, began his tenure in Butler County in 2009 as director of finance; the assistant administrator title was added about a year later.

“Butler County gave me great experience and I am taking that experience and moving on to a new challenge,” Landrum said.

Landrum said as in any position, he was met with challenges in Butler County, but is proud of creating the OMB and the office of central purchasing.

His time in Butler County was not without conflict.

In November, Landrum hired an attorney and told the county he was mistreated by Commissioner Cindy Carpenter. Through an attorney, Landrum said he had not received a pay raise he was promised when he was promoted to assistant county administrator. He also claimed Carpenter verbally abused him and threatened to file a lawsuit. Carpenter had disputed the allegations.

“I have zero animosity and wish the best for everyone and the best of success for Butler County and its citizens,” Landrum said.

He noted his career goal has always be to be an administrator and Delhi Twp. gives him that opportunity.

At Thursday’s county commission meeting, Administrator Charles Young said “we will miss Pete.”

Commissioner Charles “Chuck” Furmon said “I want to wish Pete much success.”

Furmon thanked Landrum for his work noting “Much of it was under adverse conditions.”
