MIDDLETOWN — A water main break Wednesdau, Jan. 20 at the Manchester School forced Middletown City Schools to postpone a scheduled training class on a new computer system for parents.
Class remained in session and students were dismissed at their normal time, according to district spokeswoman Debbie Alberico.
“There is still water pressure and there is no contamination,” Alberico said. “Crews are on the scene and will be working to repair the broken line, so we didn’t want to have people in the building once the water lines are shut down.”
The water is contained to a front area of the building, but crews are still trying to locate the source of the break and will be working during the evening to fix the problem, Alberico said. It was not known how long the repairs would take and if the building will be open Thursday.
The Manchester School, located at 4420 Manchester Road, was to host a parent-training course on ProgressBook, a new software program being launched at three Middletown schools ProgressBook to help parents monitor student progress by combining a grade book, attendance, lesson plans and parent/teacher/student communications.
Tonight’s classes were a make-up session from already postponed session earlier this month due to snow.
New training sessions are scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25 at the Middletown High School Media Center, according to ProgressBook representative Jewell Folta.
