LIBERTY TWP. — Veterinarian Liz Gigis receives a lot of questions about taking care of dogs.

What medicines are safe for dogs to take?

How do I stop my dog from chewing on things?

Can chocolate really kill my dog?

Gigis will now be answering those questions and more as the new veterinarian columnist of CincinnatiDogPages.com, a website designed to offer information to local dog owners.

“Writing these articles helps me a lot,” Gigis said. “You may know a lot about a subject, but when you sit down to write about it, you do more in-depth research and learn little facts about a given topic.”

CincinnatiDogPages.com was founded by Kathy McRoberts as a one-stop information site about dog care in the area.

It offers a directory of local dog services, a calendar of events and a learning center with articles and tips for dog owners.

“One way I think it’s really helpful is people always want to know a good obedience school for their dogs,” Gigis said. “But obedience schools are often small businesses, difficult to find. This has a directory of all of them nearby.”

Gigis has co-owned and operated the West Chester Veterinary Center for the past year with her husband, Mike.

The center offers veterinary care and kennel and grooming services for dogs, cats and other small mammals. The clinic also offers on-call emergency service for pets.

The owners are in the process of upgrading their kennels with “luxury suites” offering private rooms and televised hook-ups for owners worried about their furry companions.

Gigis said she hopes eventually to expand the animal center and become a 24-hour service center.
