Two caretakers at a Lebanon nursing home have been indicted on charges of stealing pain medication from patients, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Deborah Renee Richardson, 45, of 28 Village Court, Monroe and Denise “Bells” Holtkamp, 38, of 573 Woodbine Court, Maineville are both accused of stealing Oxycodone from the Lebanon Country Manor nursing facility, according to Matt Nolan, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.

Nolan said both women separately altered patient records so they could steal the addictive painkiller for their own use. Nolan said that even though each was allegedly committing their crimes during the same time period between 2007 and 2009 and both were charged with the same crimes, there is no evidence that the women were acting together. Nolan said the women were caught after Lebanon Manor performed routine audits of their drug supplies.

Both women were indicted by a Warren County Grand Jury on two counts of illegal processing of drug documents, a fourth-degree felony; two counts of theft of drugs, a fourth-degree felony; and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Preliminary hearings have been set for the women on May 29 in Warren County Common Pleas Court.

when in the world is the state going to do a better job at protecting the residents it is just too easy for this to be done. only nurses monitor nurses and get angry if anyone else steps in so one covers for the other while our patients suffer
