TRENTON — The city and some of its organizations have come up with four ways for its residents to celebrate summer.
From 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 6, is the Trenton Summer Kickoff, the second annual such event, held in Trenton Community Park.
New to that event this year is the participation of the Cincinnati Radio Club, which will fly some of its remote-controlled airplanes, said Kathleen Haynes, a member of the Trenton Brainstorming Group, which helped put together the kick-off.
Another airborne possibility is a hot air balloon, to be provided by Middletown balloon pilot Dr. Mark Frazer. Whether he actually will be able to fly depends on the weather that day, Haynes said.
The group Impact, consisting of Edgewood High School students, will play from 2 to 3 p.m., and there will be a wine-tasting sponsored by the Three Valley Conservation Trust. There also will be a dunking booth, with the potentially reluctant participation of city officials, plus kids’ activities, including a bounce house, Evertz Technology of Middletown contributed funding to the event, Haynes said.
The Trenton Fire Belles will have their third annual car show on June 13 at Yardbirds on 932 W. State St. There will be a $10 per car entry fee. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to noon with awards given at 1:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Trenton Fire Auxiliary. The first 50 cars will receive dash plaques.
There also will be a flag retiring ceremony on Flag Day, June 14, at the community park.
