TRENTON — City Council is conducting its second retreat this year to discuss a variety of topics.
Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Civic Hall, 11 E. State St. The meeting is open to the public.
Tentative topics of discussion will include the 2010 budget, industrial property updates, Web casting and public records, said City Manager John Jones.
Bill Jones, the city’s new part-time code enforcement officer who is no relation to the city manager, also will be introduced and all department heads will present updates, he said.
John Jones said City Council normally conducts at least one retreat each year to enhance communication, discuss the budget and other topics of note. The first retreat of the year was held in January.
“It’s kind of planning (session). Let’s talk about what went on this year and let’s talk a little bit about the future,” he said.
Mayor Rhonda Freeze agreed.
“We usually have one a year and this year we just wanted to take a closer look at the budget and spend more time as a preliminary review to our standard retreat,” she said.
Freeze said the meetings are important to the city because they provide additional time for strategic planning and economic development.
“It also helps us to set goals,” she said.
